Times Square in New York City is one of the world's most recognizable landmarks, and the annual New Year countdown at the building - perhaps the most famous of all countdown venues - is broadcast worldwide, with over a billion people around the world tuning in to the year-end celebration. Toshiba expects to generate substantial publicity for its brand and products by positioning the signboard in the heart of the city, a place visited by over 50 million tourists and business people a year.
At the countdown each year, the displays never fail to bring additional excitement to the countdown moments by displaying the last 60 seconds to the New Year.
