Toshiba to Plant 1,000 trees in Vietnam
Commemoration of 35 years Vietnam - Japan diplomacy relation establishment

Toshiba commits to plant 1.5 million trees in the world by 2025, and takes a step towards reaching this target by planting 1000 trees in Hanoi on 24 June. More 100  workers from Toshiba Group,Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association of Hanoi and also Representatives of Hanoi People of Commitee and related orgarnizations planted 1000 trees on 24 June at the Nam Son Landfill, Hanoi

In the celebration of 35 years Vietnam-Japan Diplomacy relation establishment and the World Environment Day, on 24 Jun 2008, Toshiba Corporation and Hanoi Association of Vietnam-Japan Friendship today announced that 1,000 trees were planted at Nam Son Landfill - Soc Son - Hanoi.

1000 trees have been planted around the Nam Son Landfill in order to make the ecological environment for the landfill, against the change in the weather and protect the diversified biology. By the means of that, tree plantation contributes to save the environment and firm development. Tree plantation in Nam Son Landfill - Soc Son - Hanoi is a part of "Toshiba Group 1.5 Million Tree Planting and Afforestation Project" in all over the world.

Toshiba Corporation of Japan announced in June 2006 its group-wide initiative to plant 1.5 million trees worldwide by 2025, a year chosen to celebrate Toshiba's 150th anniversary, and to demonstrate its long-term commitment to help saving the global environment. The reforestation effort in Hanoi is an important part of this initiative.

"Toshiba Group 1.5 Million Tree Planting and Afforestation Project" global initiative is built around three pillars: the Afforestation Program, which plants trees through financial contributions and the efforts of employee volunteers; the Education Program, which raises environmental awareness through lectures and hands-on learning events; and the Financial Program, which marshals funds and other resources to help the forest. Currently, global tree-planting projects in Japan, China, Thailand, Kenya, Philippines, India, and Paraguay are planned or underway.
