The first Singapore Toshiba Group Tree-planting day was held on the 15th May 2009 at Singapore Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserves.
This event was organized as part of Toshiba CSR efforts to show our commitment to protecting the environment and our contribution to offset carbon emission.
A total of 82 participants, including Mr Wong Tuan Wah, CEO of National Parks Board and Mr Suzuki, Corporate Representative Asia & Oceania of Toshiba Corporation
and Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte Ltd with the management and staff of seven Toshiba group companies took part in the first Tree Planting event.
A total of 20 trees were planted within the wetland nature reserves.

5th Eco-Products International Fair
TOSHIBA participated in the 5th Eco-Products International Fair which was held at SMX convention center in Metro Manila,
Philippines from Mar 19 through 22, 2009.
83,469 visitors from various sectors, including VIPs such as President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President Fidel Ramos,
his former First Lady Amelita “Ming” Ramos and Senator Robert Jaworski, were impressed with the exhibition booths in the fair.

TOSHIBA highlighted its main message of “Environmental Vision 2050” in the exhibition booth with the subordinate concepts of Factor 10,
Energy Approach, Eco Products Approach, Eco Process and Eco Program.

TOSHIBA attracted visitors by its wide range of eco friendly products,
services and activities in each concept such as renewable power plant business,
LED light, Notebook PC, LCD TV, projector and TIP’s (one of local TOSHIBA companies) environmental activities.
|
|
|
TOSHIBA invited visitors for the booth orientation and quiz show at the main stage of the booth
so that they could receive better understanding of TOSHIBA environmental management.
The winners of the quiz show gladly received prizes from TOSHIBA products.
TOSHIBA also invited approximately 500 students from local schools and shared the precious opportunity
where the young generation learned how to practice environmental management that promotes harmony with the earth,
contributing to the creation of a richer lifestyle for society.

The 5th Asia -Oceania Environment Management Meeting was held in Singapore on Feb 9 - 10, 2009. 16 subsidiaries and Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte., Ltd. from Asian countries,
Toshiba Corporation and parent Company from Japan participated in this meeting, and it became significant 29 total person’s conference.
Corporate Environment Management Division made a presentation on Toshiba corporate policy and results. Each Toshiba in-house company presented the performance of its implementing measures and environmental policy.
Toshiba group companies in Asia-Oceania region presented their environment policy and environment activities, especially, to reduce chemical substance emissions, CO2 emissions and waste generation.
Attendees also gained good environmental management information on production processes during the plant tour at the Toshiba site. Overall it was a fruitful meeting.
It was a good networking and platform for information exchange on environmental management best practices to achieve environmental policy for Toshiba group companies.

Toshiba Group Singapore contributes to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserves 15th Anniversary
-A donation of 10 trees for nature conservation-
SINGAPORE - As part of its corporate citizenship activity, Toshiba Group Singapore donated10 trees to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve on the 6th December 2008,
in conjunction with the reserve’s 15th Anniversary celebrations.
As a site along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership for migratory shorebirds, and an ASEAN Heritage Park,
the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is an important asset in protecting rich biodiversity.
The reserve commemorated its 15th Anniversary with Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who officially opened the wetland reserve 15 years ago.
Realizing the importance of environmental conservation, Toshiba Group launched the Toshiba Group 1.5 Million Tree-planting Project in July 2005.
The aim of the project is to plant a total of 1.5 million trees around the world by 2025, to mark the 150th anniversary of Toshiba.
Around 340,000 trees had been planted by the end of fiscal 2007.
In fiscal 2007 Toshiba Corporation entered into forest maintenance agreements with several prefectures in Japan,
and its employees planted trees in Tochigi Prefecture, China and Cambodia.
Toshiba Corporation has also been providing funding for NGOs’ tree-planting activities in Kenya, India, the Philippines and Paraguay.
With the donation of 10 trees to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Toshiba Group Singapore hopes to kick-start a series of environmental activities in Singapore in the near future.

Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines), Inc. Received Environmental Management Award
On October 22, Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines), Inc. (TIP) received the Excellence in Ecology and Economy (E3) Award from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PCCI).
TIP's environmental management, including manufacture of HDDs with minimal environmental impacts, compliance with environmental laws and regulations, reduced CO2 emissions and waste, recycling,
reduced consumption of water and chemical substances, as well as TIP employee's enthusiastic environmental activities, were highly regarded.
The E3 Award recognizes individual companies that have demonstrated innovative and outstanding environmental performance. PCCI selects 15 finalist companies from various perspectives,
such as compliance with environmental laws and regulations, operations and technological development to ensure compliance, etc.
The 15 companies make presentation and PCCI chooses the award winners from among them.

4th Asia and Oceania Environment Management Meeting
The 4th Asia and Oceania Environment Management Meeting was held in Malaysia on Aug 4, 2008. 20 Toshiba group companies from Asia and Oceania region participated in this meeting,
and it became significant 34 total person’s conference.
Corporate Environment Management Division made a presentation on Toshiba corporate policy and results.
Each Toshiba in house company presented the performance of its implementing measures and environmental policy.
Toshiba group companies in Asia Oceania presented the regional environment policy and the environment activities.
Attendees also gained good environmental management information on energy conservation efforts and waste treatment practices during the plant tour at the Toshiba site.
Overall it was a fruitful meeting. It was a good networking and platform for information exchange on environmental management best practices to achieve environmental policy for Toshiba group companies

Save Our Beaches” Tree Planting & Cleaning on Morib New Beach, Kuala Langat
|
On August 9, 2008, MDKL (Majlis Daerah Kuala Langat, Selangor) and Toshiba group companies in Malaysia such as Toshiba Electronics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, Toshiba Sales & Services, Sdn. Bhd. TOS Energy Malaysia Sdn. Bhd,
Toshiba Electronics Trading (M) Sdn. Bhd., TPSC Engineering (M) Sdn. Bhd, and Toshiba Insurance Service Asia Pte Ltd (Malaysia branch) cleaned Morib New Beach and planted 150 trees together to prevent encroaching seashore.
It was the first joint CSR activity of Toshiba Malaysia group companies. Not only the administration organ but also neighboring students could join it.

Eco-products International Fair 2008
Now in its fourth year, the Eco-products International Exhibition 2008, with the theme "For Sustainable Development and Better Life", was held at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, Vietnam from 1 - 4 March 2008.
The number of the exhibitors was 91 companies and associations except organizer.
