« Back Toshiba Donates LED TVs to Philippines Public Elementary Schools

Silay — Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines), Inc., a Group company of Toshiba Corporation, today announced that it has donated 300 units of 32-inch LED TVs to Ayala Foundation to support the Text2Teach project.

In continuing commitment for education programs in the Philippines, Toshiba has been involved in the Ayala Foundation’s Text2Teach project since last year. Toshiba plans to reach out donating 853 brand new 32” LED TVs to public elementary schools nationwide in three consecutive years. Toshiba has already donated 303 brand new 32-inch TV units, following another donation of 300 TV units this year. It plans 250 more units by next year for the last tranche.

The Text2Teach project provides high-quality, ICT package teaching materials on English, Math and Science into selected elementary school classroom. Studies have already shown that Text2Teach is an effective teaching tool that has made teaching and learning more interesting and effective, with record in higher grades and schools in the program have reported lower absenteeism. Text2Teach is now used in 736 public elementary schools around the country. Toshiba has been supporting this Phase 4 activity since last year.

Toshiba’s support for education counts the sixth year in the Philippines. Toshiba began the partnership with Ayala Foundation, Inc. through donation of a total of 440 brand new laptop PCs to 44 public high schools in the Laguna province in a span of 4 years for “Gearing-Up Internet Literacy and Access for Students” (GILAS) project.
