-Toshiba further strengthens ICT business in ASEAN region—

Toshiba Solutions today announced that it has expanded its business in ASEAN region with the establishment of a new business entity in Thailand. Located in Toshiba Asia Pacific (Thailand) Co., Ltd., it will provide ICT services to Toshiba Group of companies and affiliates and other companies operating in Thailand.
In April 2013, Toshiba Solutions set up its presence in Singapore and the new entity in Thailand is its second step to further enhance business in the ASEAN region.
Overview of business in Thailand
1. Utilising Toshiba’s Data Centres to Support Cloud Computing
The new entity in Thailand will provide cloud base and cloud services to Japanese and local companies. The Human Resource Management system, which has a proven track record in Japan and implemented in Toshiba Group companies in Thailand, will be introduced to Japanese companies with operations in the country.
Furthermore, it will collaborate with Toshiba’s software companies in India and Vietnam (Toshiba Software India, and Toshiba Software Development Vietnam) for cost competitive and high quality ICT services.
2. Product Offerings
Toshiba Solutions will also provide products such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and image processing and testing equipment.
– Optical Character Recognition
With the ability to achieve high accuracy in letter recognition, this system can be applied across various sectors that require high volume data entry of financial records, communications field, government offices, medical and BPO (business process outsourcing) sectors.
– Surface inspection system
Equipped with a high quality image processing technology, the system can inspect defects on a product’s surface to support companies in their efforts to improve manufacturing quality.
