« Back Toshiba Asia Pacific Appoints ADC Power Concept as Malaysian Distributor for Modular Data Centers

Singapore–Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte., Ltd. today announced that it has reinforced its regional sales network for modular data centers in Southeast Asia by appointing Malaysia-based ADC Power Concept Sdn. Bhd. as its distributor in the Southeast Asia market.

In the age of big data, data centers are the workhorses of the Internet, storage hubs for the ever-growing volumes of data essential for industry, commerce and our digital lifestyles. The companies and network service providers that operate them want to be able to meet demand growth with cost-competitive, flexible solutions that support fast capacity upgrades with lower initial costs and free of service disruptions. Toshiba modular data centers offer these advantages, and a proven climate-control system optimized to handle the demands of hot, humid climates.

As supplier of data centers in Malaysia, Selangore-based ADC Power Concept will support TAPL’s business growth strategy and promote sales by drawing on its extensive experience of the Malaysian and South East Asian market, especially in industrial fields. It will offer the modular data centers as integrated systems consisting of the housing unit, the servers and their related equipment, and the air-conditioning system.

Toshiba’s modular data centers offer a flexibility bricks and mortar structures cannot match. Each independent module has a robust, heavy gauge steel frame, and is cooled by multi pattern air-flow system that adjusts to the seasons and local weather conditions. The modules can also be stacked to high, increasing capacity without enlarging the system’s footprint.

The original modular was developed and proved by Toshiba in Japan, and modified to meet the exacting requirements of the tropics in a 2012 project with Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University. This found that the system has the potential to cut
annual power consumption per capacity by approximately 30% by circulating unrefrigerated ambient air in the cooling system, even in tropical zones. In Southeast Asia, where Toshiba’s customers to date include cloud service operators and enterprises, the modular system’s energy efficiency has won high evaluations.

With the cooperation of ADC Power Concept Sdn. Bhd., Toshiba will seek to promote further sales in Southeast Asia, as part of its strategy of expand its global business in energy efficient, competitive modular data centers.
