From 10-12 August 2016, Toshiba showcased its geothermal solutions at the 4th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition 2016 (IIGCE2016). In addition, Toshiba reaffirmed its commitment to Indonesia’s continued development through its three new business focuses in Energy, Infrastructure and Storage. As announced earlier this year, Toshiba aims to realize low-carbon economies through safer, cleaner energy, enable safe, secure and resilient societies for people through reliable infrastructure, and contribute to creating the infrastructure of information societies through leading storage technologies.

Towards this vision, PT. Toshiba Asia Pacific Indonesia was established in 2014 to deploy Toshiba’s resources and expertise to help enhance infrastructure solutions in Indonesia as it experiences rapid growth and urbanization. In 2011, Toshiba also acquired PT. Envitech Perkasa, an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company for water and wastewater treatment plants, to expand its water and wastewater treatment business in Indonesia.

Toshiba is a world leading supplier of geothermal turbines since 1966, and to date, the Group has installed 53 units totaling 3.4 gigawatts (GW) across the world. To date, Toshiba will be supplying 19 units of steam turbines and 33 units of hydraulic turbines across Indonesia, whose combined capacity comes to nearly 7,000MW, and contributed through geothermal power plant projects such as the Sarulla and Patuha power plants.

Toshiba has also contributed water solutions via PT. Envitech Perkasa in Indonesia through over 200 projects in various industrial sectors across Indonesia, for example, supplying high purified water to power plants, supplying the water to factories and treating the wastewater from the factories in large industrial estates in Bekasi and Cikarang area, supplying the recycled water in food factories.

Mr. Tatsuo Doko, Corporate Representative-Asia for Toshiba Corporation and Managing Director of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., said, “I am pleased to be leading Toshiba in the Asia region, which has been identified as one of Toshiba’s key growth markets. As countries in the region continue to experience rapid economic growth, Toshiba is presented with many opportunities to contribute through its leading energy, infrastructure and storage solutions.”

“Toshiba is committed to realizing a safe, secure and resilient society in Indonesia and supporting the country’s continued development. Toshiba has supported Indonesia for over 40 years, and there are still many ways we can contribute – not just through our diverse energy solutions as Indonesia works towards achieving its goal of adding 35GW to its power supply, but also through providing reliable infrastructure that is needed to support the country’s rapid growth.”
